Exactly 30 anniversary since the first Toy Story movie was released, launching the animation giant as a major film company and introducing viewers to iconic figures like the cowboy doll (the actor) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.

Coming in 2026, the next chapter is set to arrive. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, offering a glimpse into the plot but leaving fans curious how it will address the ending of Toy Story 4.

Bonnie's New Toy: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Frightens the Toys

The preview reveals Bonnie — who received the toy collection when he grew up — getting a latest plaything, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. She gets her initial digital gadget, and she is excited about it.

Presumably, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. However, the toys seem to view it as a danger coming to replace them, which it likely will.

Woody's Return: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4

One thing the teaser doesn't touch on is what Woody is returned with his companions in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a new adventure with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), journeying with a carnival and assisting prize toys locate loving owners.

Surely, the filmmakers will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Seeing him show up in Bonnie's room without warning is somewhat puzzling, however. It also raises questions whether his partner will have returned with Woody. And where is Duke Caboom (the star)?

Connections from the Previous Film

At the very least, some elements are continuing from the prior film. The last thing the cowboy did before departing for his new life was hand over his sheriff badge to the cowgirl (Joan Cusack), entrusting her in charge of the toy domain. The clip shows the insignia pinned to her outfit.

It is hoped she is still the driving force among the group.
